Carson Shelter is incredibly full and killed over 45 cats and kittens this past week for space :( These 3 kittens I have had my eye on..they came in as semi-ferals but they are not bad at all and have all ready tamed up a bit – the only tough one n…ow is the white and grey tabby but even he should be fine…I mean they barely weigh over a pound so it is kind of funny when they try and act all tough!! “Mr. Tough Guy” is all hot air. U can pick him up & cuddle. Will not bite or scratch. Same with the others. So cute. You can pet them and I guarantee they will be ok in a few days! If not I will take them back and relocate them to a backyard.Time is of essence now….WE NEED A FOSTER OR RESCUE TO HELP AND their PULL FEES PAID!!!!!!*** If you can help any of them, please email me at cdzacko@gmail.com

***If you can help sponsor, please see chip in below or donate through Stray Cat Alliance (SCA) and get a tax deduction! (PULL FEE $25 each, COMBO TEST $25 each, PLUS VETTING/BOARDING/TRANSPORT IF NEEDED)

More about Carson Cats

Over the past 4 years, Carson Cats has rescued over 2500 animals from the Los Angeles County Shelter System which is one of the largest systems in the country with one of the highest euthanasia rates.  Carson Cats evolved when Cyndi Zacko started going to the Carson County Shelter 5 years ago and  learned that virtually no cat rescues go there on a regular basis.   Well, she quickly learned why – the county shelters have a lot of red tape and are hard to work with, they don’t have a lot of money for the facility and staff, they have no rescue dedicated employees or red lists or new hope funding AND the people that turn in their animals there just don’t care at all.  Cyndi quickly became more involved than she ever expected because the need was just too great.  Cyndi works with the 3 cat volunteers from the shelter and has a few people help transport and network.  It is a TON of work for the small amount of dedicated volunteers they have and they have also helped many of the other county shelters such as Downey and Baldwin Park.

In 2010, Carson Cats spent over $85,000 to rescue over 600+ cats in need from the county shelters, paying for their vetting, boarding, shelter fees and transports to their prospective fosters, adopters and rescues to the Los Angeles Area.  Carson Cats also helped manage the rescue of over 100 cats from an extreme hoarding case where over 300 animals were seized.  Carson Cats also is affiliated with Stray Cat Alliance (www.straycatalliance.org) and helps feral cats in the shelter system by relocating over 150 feral cats that would otherwise be euthanized, and many of them turned out to be friendly and are in loving homes now!

A few of these cats are below:

This year alone, 410 dogs, cats and bunnies have been rescued through Carson Cats and 370 of those have had to have been vetted due to the terrible viruses the animals are exposed to in the shelter as well as the condition the animals are turned into due to abuse and neglect.  Carson Cats has had a lot of support, but unfortunately their bill has gotten quite high and they will not be able to help any other animals until they can get their bill down.  Right now Carson Cats need to pay their vets a minimum of $9000 in order to continue  (they actually have $15,000 in outstanding vet bills).  Here are some of the kitties that still need vetting and help:

WITH KITTEN SEASON IN FULL GEAR,  CARSON CATS EAGERLY and DESPERATELY NEEDS HELP IN PAYING THE VET BILLS FOR THESE CATS SO THEY CAN CONTINUE TO HELP THE ANIMALS STILL AT THE SHELTER!! WE ARE THEIR ONLY VOICE!

There are ones that currently need rescue but can’t be because there is nowhere to take them and no money to vet them.

These 5 “feral” cats are all in the High Kill Carson Shelter waiting for their certain death.  As these cats come in by the hundreds every month, it gets so overwhelming and impossible to save them all, but for some reason , these 5 have really caught people’s eyes and mine and I would LOVE it if we can find back yards or barns for them!  A couple I think will even turn out to be tame so if you want to give it a go with a couple of these, please let me know!!! If they aren’t tamable, we will find a backyard for them to go too…

We supply the cages and supplies to relocate these guys…All you do is feed them every day for 3-4 weeks while they are in their cages…after that, you release and then you promise to feed them every day!  Whalah!  You have saved a feral cat!  Ask your friends with back yards who love cats but are allergic, ask those “Do Not Adopt” people who were turned down due to wanting an outdoor cat  – it is SOOOO EASY TO SAVE A LIFE!!!

In addition to back yards and fosters for the tamable ones, we also need about $150 a cat to pull them, vet them and relocate them.  So if you don’t have a backyard or can’t foster, even $5 will help rescue these guys from death.

Please read about each cat below and let me know ASAP if you can help either provide a backyard, temporarily foster to tame or assess the feral or can donate!!!

A4231305 is a 3-4 month old feral kitten was impounded 1/12, still healthy!! The last one I got out like this I could tame!  Look how beautiful it is!!!

A4231270  Feral  4yr old black/white longhair  that came in 1/12.  The shelter RVT asked if we could save it and they never do that one ferals, so this one must be very special!!  Look how beautiful she is!!

A4230969 4yr male black feral cat, Came in on 1/12  You  cannot pet and hisses at fake hand (I would though if that thing came at me) but he meows at me & blinks his eyes. seems healthy. Looks like he has some fur scraped off his nose area from struggling in the trap.

A4232067 – ear tipped cat: 2yr old Siamese seal pt. with the ear tip. It is from a place in Torrance where people are aggressively trapping all ready ear-tipped cats where ¾ have turned out to be friendly L  I have rescued 5 so far – this is the 6th one that has come in the past 3 weeks L came in 1/15. I couldn’t pet it but it blinks its eyes at me
